QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
  • Master's degree
  • Valid Texas educational diagnostician certificate or valid Texas license as a licensed specialist in school psychology (or enrolled in a practicum)
  • Previous experience as an educational diagnostician or LSSP in a public school setting preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of evaluation procedures (achievement, intellectual, emotional, and behavioral), education of special education students, human development, and learning theories
  • Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct evaluations and collaborate/coordinate with multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated evaluations within timelines, compliant with state and federal requirements
  • Demonstrate high degree of knowledge, understanding, and skill regarding special education compliance mandated by federal regulations and state rules.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and participate in ARD meetings
  • Work with parents to help them understand the special education process
  • Collaborate with local agencies, physicians, as needed
  • Provide consultative assistance to teachers upon request (including academic and non-academic strategies, assistance with IEP goals and objectives, etc.)
  • Respond to suggestions for improvement in a positive, growth-minded manner
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services
