Job Overview:
As the Lead Kennel Technician, you will oversee the daily operations of the kennel and ensure the highest standards of animal care, cleanliness, and customer service. You will lead a team of kennel technicians, provide guidance, and assist with the overall management of the facility, while ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with hospital policies.

Reports to Practice Manager
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Animal Care & Supervision: Supervise and assist in walking dogs, feeding, watering, bathing (including nail trimming, ear cleaning, and expressing anal glands), and monitoring animal behavior.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of kennel technicians, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and to standard. Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Cleaning & Sanitation: Oversee the cleaning of kennels, runs, and facility areas, ensuring all areas are sanitized regularly.
- Record Keeping: Ensure accurate documentation of animal care, including feeding, and other activities in veterinary software.
- Inventory & Housekeeping: Manage inventory and coordinate housekeeping duties throughout the facility.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to OSHA safety regulations and hospital protocols, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to clients, answering questions and maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the veterinary team and hospital management to ensure smooth operations and quality care for all animals. Attend staff meetings and hospital functions.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Physical Demands: Bending, stooping, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and animal restraint.
- Safety Awareness: Maintain alertness, observe animals for signs of illness, and adhere to safety procedures.
- Exposure: Noise from barking dogs and risk of bites or scratches while handling animals.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Must have previous experience as a Kennel Technician and proven leadership experience.
- Strong communication, writing, and documentation skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions, problem solve, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate, professional, and able to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Must be available to work weekends on a rotating basis.
