Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Control Manager to oversee our quality assurance processes within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that aggregates and concrete sampling and testing following safety and operational guidelines with the objective to ensure that the products and processes meet the established quality standards according to TXDOT and customers specifications.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, sample, conduct and report routine laboratory testing on all concrete products produced.
- Determine compliance with TXDOT specifications and quality control program.
- Record test for concrete slump, temperature and air, sand equivalency, finest module, percentage of free moisture, and concrete strength results.
- Perform basic math calculations.
- Ability to operator and maintain testing equipment, laboratory in a clean, organized and safe manner
- Troubleshoot and make recommendations to the plant manager on improving processes and creations
- Process required paperwork throughout the day (time reporting, QC reports).
- Do quality control testing on concrete, sand and gravel.
- Perform percentage free moisture calculations every morning before start up
- Educate internal and external customers about quality assurance.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Be familiar with plant operation.
- Ability to follow specifications and directions thoroughly
- Ability to visually inspect mix for proper consistency, verify load size to ticket weights, check for proper slump and adjust accordingly.
- Work with local Plant Manager and other testing personnel to ensure all customer requests are being met.
- Performs other duties assigned and directed by plant manager.
Experience
- Proven experience in quality control management within the concrete/construction industry is essential.
- Strong understanding of construction management principles, including site operations and inspection processes.
- Familiarity with research data collection methods related to quality assurance is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets effectively.
- Experience in developing quality control plans tailored to specific projects or contracts is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
