Pay Rate: $18.00 - $20.00/hour
Purpose
This position provides support services to individuals in any of the vocational programs offered by this agency. There are two components to vocational services: Pre-employment services and Employment Support Services
Position Responsibilities
- During the Pre-employment Services stage, will Assess support needs that pertain to the individual i.e. transportation, food, shelter; Job Development (Job Site Assessment, Job Site/Worker Compatibility Analysis, Job Placement Services); On-Site Training/Job Coaching; Fostering Natural Support Systems; Job Stabilization; Social Skills.
- During the Employment Support Services, will provide ongoing support services (including at least twice monthly contact); observation of work performance; Check in with supervisor monthly to make sure no issues on the job with client; assurance to the supported employee regarding assistance with job related issues; response to changes in the employment situation or personal situation as they may interfere with continued successful employment; placement in another employment situation if minimal intervention is required.
- Provide formal and/or informal group informational sessions for identified program participants in intensive and extended phase service provision. Such informational sessions will present, review and discuss topics such as, but not limited to: Pre-placement Activities; Job Issues, Requirements and Skills for Specific Job Placement Work Place Behaviors and Socialization Skills, Living Arrangements, Financial Issues, etc.
- Complete statistical information, program and external agency reports as required.
- Assist individuals in developing and maintaining positive community support systems.
- Provide vocational counseling, advocacy, and referral for appropriate services.
- Develop and maintain open communication with community services as needed, i.e. with ACCES-VR, Family Services, ARC, DSS, etc.
- Adheres to agency standard of ethical behavior and agency policies on confidentiality. Always maintains HIPAA compliance.
- Performs such other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.
- Adheres to the Personnel Policy established by the Board of Directors and the Policies & Procedures established by the Agency.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform all aspects of workers’ jobs involved in standing, walking, stooping, bending, squatting, sitting, and twisting for four (4) to eight (8) hours. Able to push, pull and/or carry up to fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to document notes via a computer or other devise necessary to demonstrate and support billing for services delivered.
Educational and Experience Requirements
Associate degree in human services or related field and 2 years’ experience in the disability services field or;
High School diploma or equivalent and 3 years’ experience working in the disability services field.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Ability to teach and train individuals with disabling conditions, sensitivity to the needs of others, some knowledge of the rehabilitation field, adaptability to different work settings and good communication skills.
Ability to respond with sensitivity and awareness to those with diverse cultural, ethnic, social backgrounds, values, and attitudes.
Willingness to learn about various disabilities and recognize societal factors that influence discrimination against people with disabilities.
Flexibility in schedule, hours, shifts.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to Agency insurance carrier.
Fingerprint clearance.
