GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide instruction to students in one 8-week section of (CIT113Q-02) Microcomputer Hardware during the Fall 2025 semester (October 28th - December 18th) every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 - 6:20. The College syllabus for this course is on the CCCC Website under "A-Z Index - Syllabi, Course."
In Microcomputer Hardware students learn the anatomy of a microcomputer by disassembling, assembling, upgrading, and customizing a PC. Students evaluate purchasing vs. building a PC. The role of the BIOS and CMOS in the POST and BOOT processes is explored. System boards, processors, memory, and peripherals, including input, output, multimedia, network, and data devices are studied. Students learn troubleshooting, safety, basic operating systems procedures, and security and preventive maintenance techniques. Customer service is stressed. This course covers the hardware material for the Comp TIA A certification exam.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.
- Selection and development of appropriate materials for class use.
- Assessment of student performance, including submission of final grades in a timely fashion.
- Maintaining appropriate attendance and student records.
- Availability to students when mutually convenient.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of IT experience working with PC hardware OR master's degree in appropriate discipline
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- College Teaching Experience.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CompTIA Security Certification.
- Experience working with GED and ESOL students in alternate learning environments within high schools.
- Experience and commitment to working in a global multicultural academic setting.
