Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists offers a dynamic and challenging externship program for veterinary students, providing hands-on training in a fast-paced animal hospital setting.
As an extern, you will have the opportunity to work with a highly skilled team of veterinarians and support staff, gaining valuable experience in various areas of veterinary medicine, including emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging.
We are proud to offer a wide range of services, including endoscopy, soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, emergency and critical care, cardiology, internal medicine, anesthesiology, dermatology, exotics, ultrasound, and CT scans.

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists has two facilities, located in Buzzards Bay and Dennis, offering 24/7 care with a highly skilled support team and specialists in various fields.
We believe in the importance of mentorship and provide ongoing support and guidance to our externs, helping them to develop their skills and confidence as future veterinarians.

Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Priority scheduling given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit
- Must provide proof of professional liability insurance
