HIRING CAMP COUNSELORS FOR ALL CAMP LOCATIONS: SANDWICH, BARNSTABLE, FALMOUTH, WOODS HOLE, & HARWICH!

Position Summary:

Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp.  Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions:

1. Supervises a group of children.
2. Assists with lesson plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
3. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
4. Attends staff meetings and trainings.
5. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models' positive relationship-building skills in all interactions.
6. Maintains required certifications.
7. Attends staff meetings and trainings.
8. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes reports as necessary.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum age of 16 and (1) have at least four weeks experience as a participant in a structured group camping and/or at least four weeks experience in a supervisory role with children; or (2) have satisfactorily completed a camp counselor orientation program prior to the arrival of campers.
2. Must be at least three years older than the campers whom they supervise.
3. Previous experience working with children.
4. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, music, drama, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
5. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
6. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position.
