Bus Driver – CDL with P and S endorsements
Role is a part time bus driver to drive school owned or rented activities busses. Will opt in to working a variety of intermittently scheduled shifts from two hours up to two days.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Visually inspect each bus before driving.
- Follow a planned bus route with students, teachers, staff, athletes and artists.
- Communicate with appropriate school staff members as needed during the route.
- Report any mechanical issues with the bus such as brakes, steering, mirrors, safety equipment or other issues.
- Prepare incident reports and accident reports as needed.
- Communicate any equipment or scheduling issues, reports emergencies, traffic issues or accidents.to Facilities Director or designee in a prompt fashion.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Schedule:
This position is scheduled to work according to a varied schedule. There may be some overnight trips, depending upon the student event such as overnight competitions or tournaments. The actual times worked are determined by the supervisor.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Tactful communication skills and ability to communicate with students.
- Ability to operate a bus safely.
- Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle maintenance and the ability to diagnose essential mechanical problems.
- Time management skills.
- Record of providing strong customer service.
- Knowledge of job site/workplace health and safety requirements.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and special events
Experience and Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have a valid commercial drivers license with “P” and “S” endorsements.
- Minimum of two years’ experience driving commercial vehicles.
Physical Requirements/ Working Environment:
- Must pass DOT required drug screening a upon-hire and at random times and pass regular DOT physicals.
- Prolonged periods of operating a bus.
- Must be able to work in a dynamic, stimulating environment with frequent noise interruptions without losing focus.
- Must be able to assist passengers when needed.
- Must be able to hear and speak sufficiently to manage any potential bus safety issues.
