DEFINITION: The Curriculum Specialist supports the work of the Instructional Operations Unit primarily by assisting with the scheduling and building of curriculum class sections as well as the maintenance and upkeep of curriculum spaces in Ad Astra. Additionally, the Curriculum Specialistsupports the maintenance and modification of curriculum programs, tracks, and courses; the maintenance of current and accurate curriculum information in the college’s local computer systems; the production of the college’s academic catalog and student handbook; the maintenance of records of curriculum modifications processed through the college’s Curriculum Committee. This position works closely with the Instructional Services Specialist with coordinating and scheduling Economic Workforce and Development and curriculum classes.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives general supervision from the Director, Institutional EffectivenessExercises no supervisory duties

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions: Ensures the accurate and timely entry of curriculum course sections in Ellucian Colleague for each academic term.Maintains the Schedule Production Calendar in coordination with deans, department chairs, and Program Directors, keeping it current and accurate to ensure schedules are received, entered, proofread and ready for registration.Proofs the input of classes for accuracy and creating and maintaining reports in Entrinsik Informer to ensure accuracy of meeting times, census dates, start and end dates, financial information, billing information, locations, instruction method, capacity, and instructors prior to registration and again before the start of each instructional term.Responds to requests for classroom scheduling for curriculum, continuing education, and partnering institutions’ instruction; assists other scheduling technicians and departments in managing instructional classrooms for higher utilization.Assists with creating and maintaining reports on class schedules, campus schedules, student enrollment, report scheduling, and faculty schedules as needed by curriculum and continuing education administrators.Provides training and assistance in the scheduling of courses and programs for department chairs, administrative assistants, and other constituents as needed.Utilizes and maintains accurate and current information on the Ad Astra platform. Ensures curriculum courses are scheduled in appropriate classrooms; make changes as needed.Assists with blocking off and opening classrooms as needed to serve the needs of the college.Coordinates with other Ad Astra approvers and schedulers to write procedures and work with the team to ensure that campus space and training needs are met. Maintains and updates curriculum courses in Ellucian Colleague.Assists with the modification of curriculum programs of study in the NCCCS System Office ERP as needed.Assists with the modification, and maintenance of curriculum programs of study in Ellucian Colleague as needed. Assists with the production of the college’s academic catalog, including programs of study and course descriptions. Ensures accurate and timely completion and transmission of the curriculum space utilization information.Works closely with the Instructional Services Specialist to coordinate the space utilization report before transmission. Collaborates with the Instructional Services Specialist to cross train on different scheduling platforms used for both curriculum and Economic and Workforce Development (EWD) classes. Other Important Functions: Ensures the timely and accurate processing of all schedule requests and revisions Ensures accurate course meeting times, census dates, start and end dates, financial information, billing information, locations, instructional method, capacity, and instructor assignments.Maintains and makes available to appropriate staff detailed records of schedule modifications and/or curriculum programs of study and courses.Assists with curriculum modifications in the System Office and local ERP in accordance with NCCCS and CFCC guidelines as needed. Assists with ensuring that all curriculum modifications are accurately represented in the college’s academic catalog. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
