DEFINITION: To provide instruction to students through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, clinical instruction, handouts, and responding to questions and testing. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives general supervision from the Program Director, Nurse Aide Program, Chair, Health Science Department and the Dean, Health Science Department
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions: Provide classroom, clinical, and laboratory instruction to students.Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities.Develop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance textbook lessons using the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Regulation (NC DPHSR) approved Nurse Aide I training curriculum and North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) approved Nurse Aide II training modules.Develop and prepare tests to evaluate students; provide individual tutoring to students outside of the classroom as needed.Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate.Demonstrate competence regarding the handling of hazardous substances such as blood borne pathogens; annually undergo training and train students in such procedures.Supervise students in the lab and clinical setting.Participate in curriculum development, evaluation and change, attend faculty meetings as required.Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records and databases according to program needs or accreditation requirements.Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area.Participate in all functions related to implementation of the programs systematic plan for evaluation.Fill in for other instructors as needed. Other Important Functions: Assist the Nurse Aide Program Coordinator with Nurse Aide Program site equipment maintenance, organization of documentation and implementation of the Nurse Aide program.Participate in a variety of student related administrative activities including reviewing admission requirements, progress and qualifications for graduationStay abreast of new developments and changes in various academic fields; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars and other continuing education programs as appropriate.Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate various textbooks and select books to be used for future classes.Assist in the recruitment of students.Participate on college committees and in other institutional activities and programs.Demonstrate community involvement.Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
