What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician position at Cape Fear Eye Institute?
Duties:
- Perform preliminary eye exams, including taking patient history and performing vision tests
- Assist optometrists in various procedures, such as measuring intraocular pressure and administering eye drops
- Conduct diagnostic tests, such as visual field testing and retinal imaging
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
- Provide patient education on eye care and contact lens use
- Assist with front desk duties, including scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge of medical billing systems and coding procedures is a plus
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, such as OfficeMate is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus
