What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pump Station Operator position at Cape Fear Public Utility Authority?
Job Summary
Incumbents in this position are part of a 3 member crew responsible for assisting in the maintenance and operation of sewer pump stations.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains sewer pump and lift stations; conducts inspections.
- Documents operational events, regular maintenance events, and performs data collection for the purposes of improving performance.
- Prevents breakdowns in system operations.
- Takes HR meter readings at pump stations weekly and records run time.
- Uses the Maximo system to complete work orders.
- Maintains pump and lift station grounds, paints, landscaping, housekeeping, etc.
- Cleans and removes grease build up on floats.
- Performs basic landscaping around the pump station.
- Records HR meter readings on generator and exercises generator monthly for one hour minimum.
- Responds to emergency or disaster situations.
- Cleans wet wells debris.
- Cleans baskets with crew assistance.
- Performs inventory/property management.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of pump station work experience or any related Utility work.
- NC Grade 1 Collections System Operator certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire date is required.
- NC Grade 2 Collections System Operator preferred.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver's license.
- Must be detailed orientated.
- This position may have the opportunity to be placed on an On-Call rotation that requires a response within 30 minutes of notification.
