Job Summary
Incumbents in this position are responsible for mechanical and electrical operations and repairs of sewer pump stations, facilities and CFPUA buildings.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains various pumps, motors, and electrical systems. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Conducts safety inspections, maintains lubricant and fluid levels, and cleans work areas.
- Identifies and corrects work hazards.
- Performs maintenance at CFPUA building and administrative facilities.
- Identifies and corrects work hazards while ensuring compliance with established safety policies.
- Replaces lighting, switches, receptacles, and ceiling tiles.
- Repairs plumbing.
- Troubleshooting equipment and making necessary repairs.
- Prepare and process work orders.
- Repairs and replaces piping, valves and plumbing and other vital pieces of equipment on the plant.
- Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment, assist supply inventory, operates job related tools.
- Preventive maintenance on filters, clarifiers, pumps, bar screen, digester heaters at plants.
- Performs annual inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment at the plant.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of work experience in a mechanic role or any related work field. Utility experience preferred.
- NC Grade 1 Collections certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment is required.
- NC Grade “2” Collections certificate is preferred.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver's license.
- This position will be placed on an On-Call rotation that requires a response within 30 minutes of notification.
