Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Medical Staff Job Family Clerical Work Shift Days (United States of America) Summary The Medical Staff Coordinator works with medical staff leadership and provides support to the Medical/AHP Staff of the System facility to which they are assigned. The Medical Staff Coordinator works in conjunction with the Centralized (System) Credentialing Office in the processing of applications for initial appointment and reappointment, maintaining a current physician/AHP database and maintaining current physician/AHP files. In addition, this individual provides general clerical support and back-up to the Centralized Medical Staff Department as requested Education and formal training: Associate Degree in Business Administration/related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Work experience: A minimum of four years of experience in a responsible administrative secretarial position in a healthcare setting is required; a background in medical staff services/credentialling in a hospital setting is highly desirable. CPMSM and/or CPCS certification is preferred. Knowledge of regulatory (Joint Commission, CMS, HCQIA) requirements related to medical staff services/credentialing. The incumbent must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint as well as flow charts. Previous experience with credentialing software is desired. Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills and a preference for working with the public and ensuring that the office functions properly are required. Verbal communication abilities are needed to comprehend and communicate effectively with all levels of hospital staff. Works with highly sensitive information and materials, therefore, confidentiality is of utmost importance. Must be proficient in operation of word processor, calculator, copy machines, fax machines and multi-line telephone equipment. Must be able to type at a sustained speed of at least 50 words per minutes and be familiar with Microsoft Word, Windows and Adobe programs. Previous experience in recording and transcribing minutes and with credentialling software is desired.
