Facility Hoke Hospital Location Raeford, North Carolina Department Patient Transportation Job Family Service Work Shift Variable (United States of America) Summary Accurately and efficiently transports patients, wheelchairs stretchers and traction equipment to and from the nursing units, and ancillary departments. Uses transport equipment correctly ensuring safety measures is adhered to. Cleans repairs and maintains equipment for operability. Supports the philosophy of nursing to provide better patient care. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission, values and vision of Cape Fear Health System.At least 1-year experience in patient transportation services and prior hospital experience preferred. Must meet and maintain the requirements of a healthcare transporter. Must be able to meet requirements for CPR for Healthcare Provider, Nonviolent Crises Intervention (NCI) training and Restraints, Seclusion and Safety devices. Must identify, understand, and be able to regulate flow meter on E-Cylinder. Must be able to discharge/transfer patients and maneuver wheelchairs and stretchers with patients, including post mortem transport. Some heavy lifting may be required. Must be able to manipulate and monitor transport equipment, which often accompanies patients. Must be able to assume awkward positions. Must be able to display exemplary customer service skills. Must have good problem solving skills, organizational skills, flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to quickly assess situations and respond promptly and appropriately. Ability to care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, bariatric, and geriatric patients. Mandatories and competencies must be completed within the 90-day probationary period. Demonstrated competency with respect to the age specific physiological, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served.Ability to move within assigned areas and throughout the medical center, and detached buildings as necessary. May require moderate to heavy lifting. Ability to stand, walk and/or bend for prolonged periods of time. Speech, visual and auditory acuity is essential for communication. Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood.
