Summary
Responsible for supporting the interrelationship with clinical software applications including, but not limited to: Epic, Midas, Emstat, DSS, Press Ganey, Cardiac Cath, GE, Mac Lab which allow conversion of metrics associated with the care of the patient at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center converting these metrics into knowledge which ultimately leads to continuous improvement in quality and safety. In addition, support of the multiple patient specific Quality database support including and not limited to: STS, ACC, ACTION, North Carolina Stroke, Get with the Guidelines, and TJC Disease Specific. This Position requires strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills in gathering information from doctors, pharmacists and nurses, defines problems and designs a system of procedures to resolve problems. This position is also responsible for providing professional consultative oversight to the maintenance, upgrading, evaluation and implementation of the healthcare computer software systems and associated ancillary systems; and for maintaining competency of the systems. The incumbent works independently in providing recommendations for solutions, troubleshooting, analyzing, building and testing interphase capabilities, report writing and analytical understanding of these metrics. A considerable amount of innovation is utilized in problem solving. This innovation allows this individual the ability to think out of the box and evaluate the effectiveness of this innovation. A wide variety of internal and external contact relationships are involved in performance of the duties of this position. Internal contact relationships include: nursing, physicians, pharmacy, information systems staff, and management and executive personnel. External contact is primarily with software and automation vendors, often related to responsibilities such as product development, improvement and software upgrades. Developing and maintaining good communication with these contacts is essential to accomplishing the objectives of this position. Performs chart abstraction and registry data entry for any or all of the following: ACC, PCI, ICD, ACTION, Adult Cardiac STS, and other assigned clinical studies. Ensures the accuracy and timely completion of registry data. performs follow up with physicians/cardiologists when further clarification is needed to obtain accurate data abstraction. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission and vision of Cape Fear Valley Health.
Education And Formal Training
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. Masters preferred. Current Licensure as an RN in the state of North Carolina required or compact state licensure.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years hospital-based RN experience. Familiarity with patient medical records, documentation, and terminology. Detailed oriented and self-directed. Effective communication skills both verbal and written with a wide variety of health care professionals including physicians.

Physical Requirements
