Summary
The Corporate Director of Infection Prevention is a Board-Certified Infection Prevention/Control practitioner who is responsible for supervising the multiple facets of the Infection Prevention and Control Program in the instit¬ution. The Corporate Director is the liaison agent between all departments and the Infection Control Committee.
Education And Formal Training
Bachelor’s degree in biology/microbiology, or Nursing required. If RN, must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or Compact State Licensure. Certified in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology Inc. required.
Work Experience
Three to five years of Infection Prevention/Epidemiology required. Management experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
Must have a good knowledge of the principles of epidemiology, infectious diseases, and infection control. Ability to compile data and develop epidemiological data trends. Self-directed and demonstrates effective management skills and techniques. Good interpersonal relationship skills. Utilizes appropriate channels of communication. Must have flexibility in changing work schedule due to problems or emergencies in Infection Control related issues.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to see, hear, read, and have manual ability to use telephones, video equipment and computer keyboard. Must be able to move throughout all departments of the Medical Center and effectively communicate to patients, family members, personnel, and physicians.
Other: Position may involve exposure to skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parental contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
