Summary
Responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Appropriate clinical training in the testing of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients. Possess skills for accepting responsibility, making decisions, and working as a team. Ability to operate equipment at sitting or standing levels. Flexibility and adaptability to work additional hours or shifts and under stress. Effective communications skills to include listening, writing, talking, and reading. Ability to communicate via telephone, LIS, email and verbally. Knowledge of laboratory functions and specimen requirements. Handles multiple priorities. Independent decision making and able to make decisions under pressure. Manages stress, anger, fear, and hostility. Works alone and with others effectively. Works in close proximity to others or in a distracting environment.Light lifting up to 25 pounds, general motion including bending, squatting, reaching, carrying, pushing and pulling. Manual dexterity. Ability to speak plainly. Near visual acuity, ability to discern colors. May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
