Summary
Performs electrodiagnostic testing to include nocturnal polysomnography (NPSG), CPAP evaluations, NPSG scoring, and electroencephalograms (EEGs) when necessary. Cleans and maintains department equipment and completes all necessary paperwork. Communicates with physicians and hospital staff concerning tests or testing procedures performed in the Neurodiagnostic Department.1 year’s previous training and experience in sleep medicine required. Must have an understanding of medical terminology and current EEG and sleep medicine procedures. Ability to react calmly and maintain composure in stressful situations and when dealing with co-workers, patients, and hospital guests. Knowledgeable of Erickson's Developmental Model relative to infants, children, adolescent and all adult age groups in order to provide and/or oversee orientation and training of staff who interact with patients in these age groups.Must be able to communicate orally, have manual dexterity to apply patient electrodes, as well as to operate equipment and a keyboard. Able to stand or walk for long periods of time, push heavy equipment, and visual acuity. This position may involve skin, eye, and mucous membrane with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
