Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age for Head Coach/19 years of age for Assistant
- Hold a valid and current CPR/First Aid Certification Card
- Have or can obtain clearances from Washington State Patrol and FBI Background check
- Preference given to specific sport coaching experience and individuals with teaching experience.
- Have understanding and knowledge of rules and regulations regarding the sport as presented by WIAA and be able to take required classes. Must meet WIAA coaching standards.
- Skilled in communicating effectively and diplomatically and able to build rapport with students, parents and staff.
- Demonstrate effective organizational skills and ability to take direction and work as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and place the needs of ALL students first in decision making.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude, good work ethic in accomplishing all tasks, and demonstrate promptness in arrival to practices and competitions.
- Organize, direct and supervise all practice sessions at appropriate times. Emphasize safety precautions. Be aware of best training procedure and injury preventative actions.
- Accompany and direct the team in all interscholastic activities at home or away (including bus travel) and be responsible for conduct of self and teams in an ethical manner during contests and practices in accordance with Athletic Code of Conduct.
- Make recommendations for equipment to be purchased and facility maintenance improvements needed. Maintain inventory records, team and individual statistical records and recommend students for letters and awards.
