What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Cape Henry Collegiate?
Cape Henry Collegiate's dedicated Operations Department is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support our school mission statement and core values. This position primarily performs preventative and corrective maintenance of the buildings, building systems and equipment. It also extensively supports daily school operations. Hours are Monday - Friday from 9:00an - 5:30pm and occasional weekends/holidays and is a permanent position.

Position Duties (include, but are not limited to)
- Performs repair and maintenance of the building systems and structures, including painting; basic electrical; plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; ceiling and flooring materials; drywall; and door and window assemblies and hardware
- Navigates the electronic work order system to retrieve and respond to repair requests
- Maintains tools and equipment; performing preventative maintenance as required
- Executes event setup and breakdown; assisting with furniture and equipment moves
- Conducts general upkeep procedures and occasional light custodial duties
- Operates hand truck, light utility vehicle, and light truck/van when required
- Responsible for unlocking the facilities, as well as, locking and safeguarding the facilities based on shift schedule
- Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned

Education and Experience
- Prior experience in commercial building maintenance
- Experience in an educational setting is a plus
- Be able to safely use various maintenance tools and equipment, including hand trucks, mechanical lift, light utility vehicles and light truck/van
- Be able to handle the physical demands of the work
- Be able to use a computer; communicate clearly and concisely (both orally and in writing)
- Be dependable, courteous, able to multi-task, have a service-oriented attitude, and be able to work well in a team setting
- OSHA Certification; and trade certification/specialization painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC are a plus
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Valid Driver’s License
