GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Cape Henry Collegiate is seeking a part-time School Nurse. The successful candidate will work with the Head School Nurse in our vibrant and caring school community. Throughout the school year, the clinic operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:45am - 5:30 p.m. and the position is for 5 hours per day primarily in the afternoons.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Position Duties (include, but are not limited to)
- Provide a high level of medical care to students and employees according to physician orders, utilizing established procedures and protocols
- Administer prescribed medications and other treatments per physician written orders
- Assess, triage, and treat chronic illness, acute illness, and injury of students and faculty
- Prepare prescribed medications for field trips and consult with staff during field trips for health and medication concerns
- Respond to emergency medical situations and perform first aid when required
- Coordinate with local emergency personnel and agencies when necessary
- Follow required cleaning and sanitization procedures
- Maintain current documentation of all treatment and medical services provided in the clinic
- Follows Virginia Department of Education laws regarding required student paperwork and administration of medication
- Inspects student records for State compliance in regard to school physicals and immunizations
- Follow and adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality, privacy rules and regulations
- Collaborate with students, parents and teachers regarding medical treatment
- Maintain a courteous and professional atmosphere
- Provides individual health teaching to students, families, and employees
- Provides health promotion instruction to students and employees
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Current VA RN Licensure
- CPR certification
- BLS certification within 1 year of employment
