What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker position at Caper's Café and Catering Co?
We are searching for an organized, energetic Baker to join our team. Will be responsible for measuring ingredients, prepping, dicing/slicing onions, bacon, etc., scooping dough, packaging, preparing food product for production and other production kitchen related duties, while maintaining clean and orderly work areas, equipment. storage areas/bins, and utensils.
To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask without sacrificing accuracy in your work, and be able to perform well within a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
The essential functions of the Baker include but not limited to:
- Makes and prepares all food items that are baked in oven including but not limited to pies, muffins, cookies, croissants and quiches, cakes, etc.
- Prepares baked foods according to recipe, using variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing for stage of doneness.
- Serves high quality food and ensures items are complete, prepared as required and attractive in appearance.
- Assembling catering trays and special orders.
- Ensure all daily production needs are completed, as ordered.
- Assembles high quality desserts and ensures items are complete, prepared as required and attractive in appearance.
- Follow production preparation weights and procedures as described.
- Maintains cleanliness of kitchen stations and work areas.
- Monitors and oversees food temperatures during hot and cold handling to reduce the incidence of risk factors known to cause food borne illness.
- Report low or out of stock items daily.
- Performs daily, weekly and monthly cleaning projects (stainless equipment, walls, floors etc.
- Assists other team members as needed or when business needs dictate.
- Works safely and efficiently, utilizing safe equipment, techniques, and products.
- Follows all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Follows all state department of health rules and regulations are followed.
- Assist in food prep duties, as needed.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- 1 year of working in a baking environment
- Must have current valid food handler’s card
- Must have high level of mobility/flexibility
- Must possess high level of coordination
- Outstanding service to fellow team members, guests, vendors, etc., is expected. Regular attendance is required
- Ability to communicate in an active restaurant environment
- Able to follow instruction and work as part of a team, as well as independently
- Dedicated and hardworking
- Able to follow verbal instructions and training, and able to work with minimal direction or supervision to complete assigned tasks
- Must understand and execute food safety and sanitation protocols

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
