The Embedded/Firmware Developer will be responsible for Linux distribution development, real-time application programming, debugging, and system optimization for industrial embedded systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Yocto Project, Linux Kernel, C/C programming, and real-time middleware development. This role is onsite in Andover, MA and offers a 1 year contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Linux Distribution Development:
- Build and maintain Yocto-based or Debian Linux distributions for industrial applications.
- Customize Linux OS for real-time embedded systems.
- Troubleshoot Linux Kernel-level issues.
- Develop and maintain custom Yocto recipes for new targets and requirements.
Real-Time Application Development:
- Design and develop real-time middleware for Linux-based embedded systems in C/C .
- Implement OPC UA, Modbus TCP, MQTT, HTTP, and Redfish communication protocols.
- Optimize Linux Kernel and Real-Time Linux for embedded applications.
Debugging and Troubleshooting:
- Perform Kernel-level debugging and low-level firmware debugging.
- Resolve complex hardware-software integration issues.
- Conduct unit testing and ensure system performance optimization.
Code Quality Enhancement & Optimization:
- Review and improve existing codebase for performance and maintainability.
- Develop profiling and optimization capabilities to reduce inefficiencies.
- Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Write technical documentation, including functional specifications, design documents, build guides, and whitepapers.
- Evaluate and optimize data systems for efficiency.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering, SRE, and Product teams for embedding profiling capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
- 5 years of experience in embedded firmware development.
- Strong hands-on expertise in C and C programming for embedded systems.
- Experience with Yocto Project, Linux Kernel development, and Real-Time Linux.
- Knowledge of OPC UA, Modbus TCP, MQTT, HTTP, Redfish communication protocols.
- Experience in real-time middleware development.
- Strong debugging skills with Kernel-level debugging tools.
Soft Skills:

Preferred Qualifications:

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $34.67/hour - $54.18/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
