Job Summary:
This role supports fuel consumption, energy efficiency, and range modeling and simulation to align with the company’s product and brand targets. The position ensures that vehicle performance meets fuel economy, range labeling, and greenhouse gas (GHG) compliance goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Modeling & Simulation:
- Analyze fuel consumption, energy efficiency, and range benefits for various technologies.
- Optimize measurement methods and vehicle characteristics to enhance fuel economy and emissions labeling.
- Develop and validate energy efficiency plans, ensuring expected technology benefits are met.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Prepare and present scenarios, graphs, and reports for global strategy meetings and product committees.
- Communicate technology benefits clearly in both written and verbal formats.
- Regulatory & Compliance Support:
- Act as a liaison between Product Engineering and Compliance teams.
- Ensure compliance with the latest fuel consumption and emissions regulations in North America.
- Support technical meetings with government agencies on fuel consumption reduction strategies.
- Cross-Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with Propulsion Systems (Virtual Engineering, Calibration, Controls) to meet fuel consumption and performance targets.
- Assist in pre-certification evaluations for fuel consumption, emissions, and electric range for North American markets.
- Contribute to improving simulation methodologies, validation tools, and vehicle performance optimization strategies.
- Vehicle Performance & Data Analysis:
- Conduct vehicle performance modeling and simulations, including launch and capability maneuvers.
- Process and analyze large datasets efficiently.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited university.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with EPA fuel economy regulations and procedures.
- Understanding of hybrid powertrains and fuel economy considerations.
- Experience creating virtual models and correlating them with real-world results.
- General knowledge of automobiles, internal combustion engines, and transmissions.
- Basic understanding of calibration variables and their impact on engine operation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google tools, and MATLAB or MATLAB-based tools.
- Advanced or fluent English skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience modeling electrified powertrain components and systems.
- Knowledge of advanced powertrain technology.
- Experience with algorithms and programming languages.
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $27.28/hour - $42.62/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
