What are the responsibilities and job description for the IBMi Specialist Engineer position at capgemini?
Person required with high level of IBMi skills to help build new LPARs and support the business with large scale project covering the migration of services across regions, moving onto Operating System upgrades early in 2025. Skills to include,
- Technical knowledge in IBMi Operating system including OS/400 components; for example, creation of subsystems, workstation entries, share pools, printers, BRMS objects, testing backups, troubleshooting job failures (to name a few)
- Technical knowledge in IBMi third party projects including Connect:Direct, IWS, CDC, Robot, Powerlock, OnDemand so the individual can configure objects where required and provide support for these products as per business requirements
- Understanding of IBMi PowerHA toolkit would be advantageous as it is critical to our data replication and roleswaps to opposite site. HSBC uses internal start up, shut down, and roleswap procedures that the colleague would be expected to learn and support. Especially need skills in roleswap and understanding the status of the PowerHA tools. HSBC uses FSFC and switchable iASP patterns.
- Full operating system upgrades from start to completion including any pre-requisite task (including checking validity of LPAR in readiness for upgrade, backup etc.), upgrading the operating system to V7R5, verification and clearly understanding backout if required. Understanding of SLIP installs, MSD etc. would be useful if situation arises.
- Proficient in scripting and or coding skills in multiple common languages (e.g. IBMi Control Language, RPG, Ansible etc.) would be very beneficial
- Requires a collaborative teammate who enjoys working in multi-functional groups and has the ability and willingness to work with others around the world
- Remote working may be agreeable but colleague would be expected to visit Chicago office a couple of days a month
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $39.30/hour - $61.40/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
