Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Powertrain Calibration Engineer to develop and implement best-in-class calibration solutions for Engine Starts features. This role involves diagnostic verification testing, calibration validation, and data analysis to ensure robust, reliable system performance. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement calibration solutions; perform diagnostic verification testing.
- Analyze passing and failing data to assess variability of diagnostic strategies, minimizing false pass/fail outcomes.
- Validate calibrations in accordance with DVP&R, release calibrations, and support issue resolution for corporate fleet and field concerns.
- Provide input to hardware design improvements as needed.
- Prepare and deliver summary reports and detailed documentation of assignments, including timing projections.
- Travel 4–8 weeks per year for system validation and verification.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (ABET accredited).
- 2 years of experience in powertrain systems calibration, driveability, and emissions.
- Solid knowledge of internal combustion engines and CARB diagnostic regulations.
- Hands-on experience with calibration tools (e.g., ETAS INCA, MatLab, CANalyzer).
- Fundamental knowledge of MatLab / Simulink.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations to leadership.
- Onsite presence required:
- Initial training: 5 days/week
- Regular operation: 3–5 days/week
- Master of Science in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (ABET accredited).
- Experience with design of experiments and advanced calibration optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in CAN communication protocols.
- In-depth knowledge of calibration processes and toolsets.
- Powertrain calibration and vehicle testing (Level 4 proficiency)
