Description:

This position is part of the Analytics Department at the Capital Area Food Bank, which aims to place data at the center of decision-making across all teams. The Evaluation Coordinator will contribute to this mission by supporting evaluation projects focused on understanding the resource-intensity, implementation, and impact of services and programs. Key responsibilities include conducting literature reviews and research on best practices, designing and programming surveys and protocols, collecting and analyzing data, cleaning data, developing reports and deliverables, and helping teams apply findings. The coordinator will report to and collaborate with the Evaluation Manager to provide support, coaching, and consultation across the food bank. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects with varying content, scope, and levels of evaluation experience among team members. The ideal candidate will be passionate about advancing food security, committed to equitable evaluation and research design, and enjoy working in a collaborative environment.

Essential Functions:

Evaluation Strategy (~20%)

  • Conduct background research and draft literature reviews.
  • Support the development of logic models, evaluation questions, and indicators.
  • Encourage the adoption of evaluation best practices across a wide variety of programs, pilots, and departments .

Data Collection & Analysis (~50%)

  • Serve as our Key Survey System Administrator, overseeing all survey/data collection efforts across the organization ensuring adherence to all best practice research.
  • Support and at times, lead, in-person and virtual quantitative and qualitative data collection across the food bank’s network of partners and the clients those partners serve.
  • Support and at times, lead, quantitative and qualitative data analysis and develop findings.
  • Learn and become proficient in all organizational databases and how they are utilized.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of organizational and departmental reports, tools, and dashboards in Excel, Tableau, NetSuite Analytics Warehouse (NSAW) and Key Survey.
  • Support the growth and standardization of data collection and analysis across food bank departments.

Data Use (~30%)

  • Support the development of easily digestible evaluation reports and data visuals for internal staff and external stakeholders to communicate evaluation findings.
  • Support staff in making programmatic or pilot changes based on evaluation findings.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or suitable experience with program evaluation, research, survey design, or other related field.
  • 1-2 years of quantitative research experience, including designing sampling strategies, designing, programming, administering surveys, analyzing data sets, developing reports, and creating data visualizations, preferably within the field of hunger alleviation and food security.
  • 1-2 years of qualitative research experience, including designing, collecting, and analyzing qualitative data, preferably within the field of hunger alleviation and food insecurity.
  • High proficiency working in survey platforms, preferably Key Survey. This role requires a thorough understanding of basic survey programming.
  • High proficiency with Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite. This role requires a high level of proficiency and confidence analyzing and presenting data within Excel.
  • Proficiency with Tableau. This role will require developing and updating Tableau dashboards.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience with SQL and query writing.
  • Experience analyzing data and building maps in GIS platforms is a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Physical activities involve sitting for 80% of the workday. Occasionally lifts office supplies up to 20 lbs. Ability to travel to sites, as needed, throughout the metropolitan area.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment. Some work may take place in our warehouse distribution center, or at our partner agencies.

  • Reports to: Evaluation Manager

Compensation:

  • $72,500 - $77,000/ annually

Schedule:

  • Hybrid schedule available
