What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Clerk Lead position at Capital Area Health Network (CAHN)?
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, assists in planning, organization,
implementing and evaluating the activities within the Medical Department by performing
administrative duties for the Chief Nursing Officer, all clinical Providers, and maintaining the physical
environment of the clinical areas. As a member of the PCMH Care Team, it is essential that the
incumbent fulfills this role to function within the practice in assisting coordination of care for
individual patients/families/caregivers.
Essential Functions:
- Performs duties with regards to the agency's mission statement and standards of practice
- Performs required administrative work relating to patient care
- Demonstrates customer service skills while answering office telephones for the medical department
- Assist referral coordinator with referrals per agency policies and/or act on his/her behalf
- Manage all aspects of inbound/outbound faxes, via eCW
- Will work on care gaps for all insurance
- Maintains and ensures confidentiality per HIPAA and agency guidelines
- Retrieve medical records from the agency’s EMR database
- Maintains medical records in an efficient manner
- Conduct telephone calls to verify and/or reschedule missed appointments
- Participates in economical utilization of supplies and equipment and submits cost-effective orders
- Validates all patient data prior to the visit
- Explains the medical center’s system of care to all new patients
- Provides patient education relating to appointment compliance
- Demonstrates professional telephone etiquette at all times
- Provides professional assistance to the staff relating to daily operations
- Assist the Chief Nursing Officer, as delegated, with staffing and emergency staffing challenges
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-3 years experience with customer service
