Position Summary
Route Supervisor provides supervision of a unit of Drivers to ensure service and safety compliance, coordinates Drivers’ work schedules, and performs as a substitute Driver. Route Supervisors are also cross-trained and may fulfill work in various jobs.
Work Schedule
Open shift is for p.m.
P.M. Shift: 1:30p.m. - 10:00p.m.
- Schedule includes a half hour lunch break.
- Work Schedule is Monday thru Friday with approximately 4 Saturdays per year (for Safety meetings).
- Work hours may occasionally fluctuate with work needs. More than 40 hours per week may be required, which will be at the over-time pay rate (position is non-exempt).
Wage
$20.00 - $22.97 per hour
Full-time employees (40 hours per week) receive medical, dental, and life insurance at no cost.

Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
· Must be at least 21 years of age
· State of Texas Commercial Driver License (Class B or A) with Passenger and Airbrakes Endorsements
· Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination
· Must pass a drug test
· Must pass a criminal background check
· Good driving record
· Public transit driving experience preferred
· Supervisory experience preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
· Communication skills (English), verbal and writing, with ability to fill out written reports.
· Intermediate level computer skills in Word, Excel, email, and general use.
· Ability to use local or regional geographic knowledge to locate addresses, and ability to read maps.
· Social skills with ability to communicate and interact with Drivers, other employees, and the public, under various conditions.
· Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to individuals with disabilities, recognizing their needs.
· Ability to manage and be in control of a business operation.
· Ability to respond to emergency situations with composure.
· Ability to effectively problem-solve; this requires the ability to coordinate work and be creative with resources.
Summary of Functions and Responsibilities
1. Supervises and monitors Drivers and transit operations
· Provides leadership and daily direction and assistance to Drivers. Conducts work in a professional and consistent manner providing positive and constructive feedback to employees; leads by example, and leads the company to success.
· Enforces safety rules and regulations, and ensures compliance with procedures and policies, including visits to CARTS stations to provide oversight of safety issues.
· Monitors field work to ensure that work is being performed properly, assures schedule and service compliance.
· Resolves Drivers’ work problems and assists in remedying customer complaints. Confers with the AGM-Operations, other personnel, or customers, to exchange information and to resolve problems.
· Completes disciplinary write-ups on Drivers regarding work infractions.
· Performs on-board Driver evaluations. Assists with Driver training as needed.
· Assists in maintaining compliance with all post-accident and return-to-work policy requirements, including FTA drug and alcohol testing and DOT physical fitness tests.
· Carries company phone and responds to calls, text messages, and emails at all times (day/night).

3. Works as substitute Driver
· On-standby to drive any route at any time without advance notice. Must learn and be familiar with all of CARTS services and routes.
4. Maintains vehicle
· Performs, and submits, pre-trip (and post-trip) inspections of vehicle as required by DOT regulations.
· May drive vehicles to test for mechanical problems reported by Drivers.
