Job Summary:
The Compliance Officer (CO) is responsible for assisting with all facets of regulatory compliance affecting bank operations, marketing, deposits, and lending through Encore Banks compliance program. This position assists with the maintenance of compliance policies and business procedures for integration of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
Compliance Related Responsibilities
- Maintains current and extensive knowledge of the laws and regulatory guidelines by which the bank is required to comply. Works with the compliance team to monitor federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory environment for proposed changes to laws and regulations and their potential impact on the Bank.
- Maintains an in-depth understanding of lending and deposit related compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Works with auditors and examiners during regulatory compliance audits and examinations as assigned.
- Carries out internal regulatory reviews as part of the banks compliance program.
- Familiar with all phases of development and implementation of an effective regulatory compliance program. Availability and willingness to listen to and address bank employee concerns and questions on regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the distribution of compliance-related information to bank employees to ensure familiarity with compliance requirements as assigned.
- Partners with the Chief Compliance Officer to oversee certain compliance procedures and offer risk management advice.
- Coordinate and oversee an effective compliance environment and protocol that is in line with current industry best practices, regulatory guidance, and requirements. Evaluates new or changed products and business initiatives for compliance risks and mitigation strategies.
- Tracks and monitors corrective actions performed within business areas. Assists with research and response to customer complaints or concerns.
- Available as a subject matter expert and resource for questions and training across the organization. Assists with implementation of regulatory changes in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Five (5) to ten (10) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or related curriculum, should be applicable to compliance and risk management.
- Professional certification, such as Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), regarded as an asset. Proven success in the risk management field.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to provide expertise and training to bank employees as assigned; demonstrated ability in organization skills.
- Intermediate skills in basic business software programs for internal communication, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence, and procedures, speak clearly to employees, directors, and shareholders.
- Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations. Proven critical thinking and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to work without supervision while performing duties.
- Track record of integrity and commitment to professional ethics.
