This role is a 12-month position, which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Why work at Capital City? An Instructional Coach and Curriculum Coordinator at Capital City: Leads professional development (PD) around best practices for the entire staff. Plans and differentiates PD based on subject-area, teacher experience, and school goals. Supervises our literacy and math specialists and building substitutes. Leads the implementation of our coaching cycle structure. Leads bi-weekly meetings with our coaching team, which includes ELL specialist, math specialist, and literacy specialist. Provides coaching cycles for teaching staff. Leads and plans summer professional development for all staff. Plans and leads additional summer PD and bi-weekly ‘New Teacher Cohort’ meetings, a seminar for teaching new staff. Supports the implementation of EL Education Learning Core Practices and Common Core State Standards. Collaborates with teaching staff on the creation of curriculum maps and planning Expeditions. Provides timely feedback, recommend areas for revision and review based on data, feedback and field knowledge. Conducts gradebook and lesson plan audits to inform appropriate supports and professional learning for teachers. Coordinates with the Middle School and Lower School Instructional Coaches to ensure consistency of curriculum across campuses. Coordinates with the High School Leadership Team in planning the administration of the NWEA MAP Test, PARCC assessments and other school-wide assessments. Provides training to teachers as needed. Supports Capital City in being data driven. Works with the Principal and teaching staff to analyze, interpret and use student performance data. Conducts curriculum audits to ensure cultural relevance in all aspects of our instructional model Desired Qualifications: A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience, high school grades is preferred. A Master’s degree in education or curriculum and instruction; prior leadership experience in a teaching role, coaching, leading professional development, teacher mentorship, or in administrative role is preferred. Experience working with diverse student populations or in an urban setting is preferred. Spanish fluency strongly preferred. In addition to the above requirements, staff members must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check.
