The Human Resources Manager is a critical position for the functioning of the school. The Human Resources Manager reports to the Senior Manager of Business and Human Resources and works closely with the Head of School, COO, and other HR team members. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for all tasks of the human resources department and is the primary point of contact for all employees, potential employees, and former employees related to their employment at Capital City.
The Human Resources Manager maintains and enhances Capital City’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. This will involve handling time-sensitive duties and tasks, maintaining employee records; and ensuring all personnel policies are up-to-date, communicated, and enforced. These tasks must be performed with care and attention, following procedures exactly to make sure all parts of the job are completed in accordance with policies. This job description provides an outline of the duties of the position, but there may be additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager of Business and HR.
This is a 12-month position which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The responsibilities of the Human Resources Manager include:
Employee Relations
Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
Address employee grievances and resolve conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
Conduct investigations and provide recommendations for disciplinary actions.
Maintain employee records and ensure confidentiality.
Recruitment and Onboarding
Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and extending job offers.
Coordinate and conduct new employee onboarding and orientation programs.
Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed accurately and efficiently.
Training and Development
Assist in the development and delivery of training programs.
Identify training needs and recommend appropriate training solutions.
Track and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
Performance Management
Assist in the administration of the performance management process.
Provide guidance to managers on performance evaluations and feedback.
Track and analyze performance data.
Benefits Administration
Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
Answer employee questions regarding benefits and resolve benefits-related issues.
Conduct benefits enrollment and termination activities.
HR Compliance
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices and trends.
Assist with HR audits and reporting.
Maintain compliance with I-9, EEO, ADA, FMLA, and other applicable laws.
HR Administration
Maintain accurate and organized HR records and files.
Support payroll processes including time & attendance systems
Prepare HR reports and presentations.
Assist with HR projects and initiatives.
Process HR-related paperwork.
Maintain and update the HRIS system.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
Maintain excellent relationships with employees
Desired Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations or a related field.
Experience in HR or Labor Relations
Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.

Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
