What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Equipment Technician position at Capital Dental Equipment?
The Dental Equipment Service Technician is a member of the Capital Dental Equipment (CDE) team. Job responsibilities include assisting in the certification, un-installation, and re-installation of previously used dental imaging equipment for resale to new end-purchasers. This involves technical skill with troubleshooting electronic equipment as well as interacting professionally with high-value customers in addition to assisting with completing the certification process as well as the maintenance and coordination of preventative maintenance tasks for previously installed systems.
The Dental Equipment Service Technician also manages part inventory levels for certification of equipment as well as ensuring a safe working environment and he/she maintains documentation of all customer service events including system performance tests and ongoing maintenance procedures performed on such dental radiological/imaging equipment technology types as (1) Panoramic, (2) Dual Panoramic and Ceph Systems, and (3) Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging systems. The Dental Equipment Service Technician also provides technical support for customers and related company 'Pano' activities as well as assisting in the re-certification process to ensure that all quality standards and deadlines are met.
The Dental Equipment Service Technician will also be responsible for coordination and installation of additional dental equipment including but not limited to; dental chairs, mobile cabinets, wall mounted x-Rays, 3D printers, IOS scanners, sterilizers, ultra-sonic cleaners, chair and wall mounted dental delivery systems, and ceiling and chair mounted dental lights.
Responsibilities
- Determining parts, supplies or tools needed to complete service requests. Using company-provided tools and test devices used to adjust, calibrate and repair equipment.
- Managing vehicle inventory and restocking from branch inventory as necessary.
- Ensuring both proper vehicle maintenance guidelines and safe driving habits are followed.
- Repairing equipment to meet manufacturer’s specifications as well as all company, OSHA or other agencies’ policies related to asepsis.
- Providing technical support for the repair of equipment after initial installation and ensuring that service commitments are met within standard response time.
- Assisting in the training and mentoring of new members of the Service Technician team.
- Training dental office staff on proper operation of installed systems.
- Train new employees as needed.
- Other duties as related to the Service Technician position.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.
- Knowledge of digital panoramic x-rays and x-ray equipment such as Vatech, Care Stream, or ICAT.
- Competencies in the areas of customer service, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Knowledge of dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) type of x-ray equipment used with regular dental or facial x-rays.
- General computer proficiency, including knowledge of Windows-based programs.
- General mechanical aptitude with prior experience in one of the areas of computer repair.
- Dental equipment experience preferred.
