Capital District Psychiatric Center (CDPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is currently recruiting Licensed Social Workers for their Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU); overnight shift including every other weekend.

The CIU provides 24-hour crisis response to children, adolescents, and adults in the Capital Region. Individuals can be referred by a mobile crisis team, law enforcement, outpatient clinics, local hospitals, or individuals can self-present in a time of crisis.

Licensed Social Workers will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to triage and assess individuals in a psychiatric emergency room setting including:

  • Completing psychiatric assessments with a Physician to determine if the individual would benefit from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.
  • Providing verbal de-escalation and participating in interventions as needed.
  • Triaging phone calls and providing telephonic crisis response.
  • Securing inpatient bed for individuals in need and facilitating transfers.
  • Working with insurance companies to gain preauthorization for inpatient hospitalization.
  • Connecting individuals to outpatient services at the time of discharge.
  • Assisting in training and orientation of new staff and/or interns.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed and currently registered as a Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York
