Job Summary
The Hospice Chaplain is responsible for the provision of spiritual care services to patients and families/caregivers of Capital Hospice& Palliative Care LLC, either directly or through coordination of care with other spiritual counselors. The Chaplain provides direct patient care, collaborates with the other Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) members within the care team, and with other health care providers in various care settings. The Chaplain engages patient care in a manner that promotes an interdisciplinary team approach, respects patients/families goals for care, meets Medicare/Medicaid conditions of participation and accreditation requirements and reflects the mission and philosophy of Capital Hospice.
Qualifications and Skills
- Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree). Experience working with death and dying, individuals/family/caregivers
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary group
- Comfort in an interfaith setting
- Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values
- Ability to network with community clergy and congregations
- Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care
- Hospice/ experience preferred
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order
- Must successfully pass agency-required background checks
- Must comply with agency health screening and immunization requirements
- Requires travel to multiple work locations
