JOB TITLE: Press Brake Operator – Production Worker
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
DEPARTMENT: Fabrication
REPORTS TO: Press Brake Lead
SCHEDULE: Day Shift: 10 hour shift, Monday - Thursday, 5:00 am – 3:30 pm
Evening Shift: 10 hour shift, Monday – Thursday, 10:00 am - 8:30 pm
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of cold metal forming hydraulic CNC controlled press brakes in a just-in-time fabrication shop with some assistance provided. He/she may be required to assist other operators as a helper on key work or machines as required. This is a cross functional position within the Fabrication department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Set up and operate a hydraulic press or punch for routine established work of cold metal forming/bending.
2. Select correct tooling for the job task with setup documents or supervisor/lead assistance.
3. Load, install and correctly set up the tools required with some assistance from supervisor/lead.
4. Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations.
5. Account for time and work completed via online computer data collection system.
6. Safely operate a forklift to handle materials and completed work.
7. Make routine decisions and use problem solving to resolve basic manufacturing issues or seek assistance.
8. Report and document basic material, production and quality control issues.
9. Maintain performance log books on assigned area equipment, report deficiencies to the maintenance team.
10. Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have strong metal press forming and basic fabrication background.
2. Minimum 1 year press brake experience strongly preferred.
3. Basic knowledge and understanding of fabrication, hydraulic press and/or punch operations including basic set up is desired.
4. Competent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools.
5. Demonstrated competency in basic shop math.
6. Basic ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids.
7. Ability to work with various types of metal forming constraints with guidance.
8. Previous experience with overhead crane use is desired.
9. Ability to operate a forklift.
10. Flexible and responsive with a strong teamwork orientation.
11. Good verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 50 lbs frequently.
2. Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
3. Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day.
4. Ability to work in a 55 – 85 degree Fahrenheit work environment.
5. Work in a fast paced industrial environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, hard hat, steel-toed shoes and other appropriate protective clothing.
