About the team :
Capital One's Card Decisioning team manages risk and enhances business value across the customer lifecycle, offering real-time, accurate, secure, and AI-powered decision-making solutions for customer transactions, fraud detection, alerts, credit inquiries, and applications related to card, lending, and banking products.
In this role, you'll engage with our decisioning platform team to offer architectural guidance and technical leadership, contributing to a top-tier platform that is scalable, resilient, multi-tenant, and capable of supporting various use cases.
You will collaborate with other Chief Engineers to develop high-level designs and assist Software Engineers in engineering the envisioned products. Your responsibilities include fostering industry-leading engineering culture and enhancing the developer experience. You will also provide mentorship and strategic guidance to engineering, product, and leadership groups.

Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree.
At least 7 years of experience as a hands-on full stack or backend technologist.
At least 5 years of professional experience in coding with commonly used languages such as Java, Python, Go, etc.
At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or data architecture and site reliability engineering.
At least 3 years of experience with cloud native technologies (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
Preferred Qualifications :
Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
10 years of experience in the complete system development lifecycle, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
8 years of experience designing large-scale, resilient applications.
3 years of experience in developing a large-scale platform.
Familiarity with security engineering and architecture, cloud, and software-defined networking.
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below :
Chicago, IL : $239,900 - $273,800
McLean, VA : $263,900 - $301,200
Richmond, VA : $239,900 - $273,800
This position is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and / or long-term incentives.
