The Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team at Capital One drives our AI vision forward. Collaborating closely with various partners, we push the boundaries of AI science and engineering, creating proprietary solutions that add real value. Our AI models and platforms empower teams across the organization, enabling responsible and scalable AI applications that positively impact millions of customers.
In this role, you will :
Collaborate with a cross-functional team including engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver groundbreaking AI-powered products that enhance both associate productivity and customer interaction.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support various AI software components, featuring foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.
Utilize a diverse range of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies, such as AWS Ultraclusters, Hugging Face, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch, among others.
Innovate and implement state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to enhance the performance metrics of large-scale production AI systems, focusing on scalability, cost efficiency, latency, and throughput.
Shape the technical vision and long-term roadmap for foundational AI systems at Capital One.

Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI and a minimum of 6 years of experience in developing AI and ML algorithms / technologies; or a Master's degree with at least 4 years of experience.
6 years of experience programming in Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
Preferred Qualifications :
7 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud).
Experience in designing, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.
Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience with AI and ML algorithms / technologies (e.g., LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails, Memory) utilizing languages such as Python, C , C#, Java, or Golang.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
Experience in optimizing training and inference software to enhance hardware utilization, reduce latency, and improve throughput and costs.
A strong enthusiasm for the latest AI research and its practical application.
Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex AI concepts effectively to peers and stakeholders.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are as follows :
- New York, NY : $245,900 - $280,600
- Cambridge, MA : $225,400 - $257,200
- McLean, VA : $225,400 - $257,200
- San Francisco, CA : $245,900 - $280,600
- San Jose, CA : $245,900 - $280,600
This role also comes with performance-based incentive compensation, which may encompass cash bonuses and / or long-term incentives. Capital One provides a comprehensive set of benefits to promote your overall well-being.
