Team Description :

The Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team is pivotal in realizing our AI vision at Capital One. We collaborate closely with partners across the organization to push the boundaries of AI science and engineering, creating and deploying proprietary solutions that drive significant value for millions of customers. Our AI models and platforms empower teams throughout Capital One to enhance their offerings responsibly and at scale.

In this role, you will :

Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that transform the way our associates work and how our customers engage with Capital One.

Design, develop, test, deploy, and support various AI software components, including foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, governance, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, and observability.

Utilize a wide array of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Hugging Face, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch, and more.

Innovate and implement state-of-the-art techniques for LLM optimization to enhance the performance, scalability, cost-effectiveness, latency, and throughput of large-scale production AI systems.

Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap for foundational AI systems at Capital One.

You are a resilient innovator, capable of charting new paths to align with business goals even when the direction is unclear.

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI with a minimum of 3 years of experience in developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's degree.

At least 3 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

Preferred Qualifications :

4 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud).

Experience in developing, delivering, and supporting AI services.

Hands-on experience with AI and ML algorithms or technologies (e.g., LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails, Memory) using languages such as Python, C , C#, Java, or Golang.

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field.

Experience in optimizing training and inference software to enhance hardware utilization, reduce latency, improve throughput, and manage costs.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are as follows, based on location :

  • McLean, VA : $158,600 - $181,000
  • New York, NY : $173,000 - $197,400
  • Richmond, VA : $144,200 - $164,600
  • San Francisco, CA : $173,000 - $197,400
  • San Jose, CA : $173,000 - $197,400

For candidates in other locations, salary offers will align with that location's pay range, and the actual offer amount will be detailed in your offer letter.

This role is eligible for performance-based incentives, including cash bonuses and / or long-term incentives, which may be discretionary or non-discretionary based on the specific plan.
