Distinguished Engineers are expected to lead through technical contribution. You will specialize in a particular subject area, but your input and impact will be sought and expected throughout the organization.
In this role, you will work with our Operational Excellence and Cloud Compliance teams, as well as the entire Distinguished Engineering community at Capital One. You will articulate patterns and standards for ensuring our applications embody non-functional requirements like reliability, observability, data protection and scalability. You will then lead the implementation of technology to automatically scan, verify and audit compliance with those standards across our entire cloud footprint. You will be instrumental in building the technology that will enable us to innovate rapidly in the cloud.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 9 years of experience with Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
- At least 9 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 13 years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support
- 13 years of experience in Enterprise architecture and design patterns
- 13 years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, etc.
- 5 years of experience with public or private cloud technologies
- 5 years of experience in designing and building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure)
- AWS Certifications
