Capital Paving and Construction is a leading heavy civil construction company specializing in highway, bridge, and infrastructure projects. We are currently seeking an experienced Heavy Highway & Bridge Superintendent to join our team and oversee project execution.
Position Responsibilities
- Promote and enforce adherence to the highest standards for safety, quality, compliance, and productivity in the workplace.
- Perform duties in compliance with OSHA, FRA, and MSHA regulations as necessary, and company safety policies and procedures. Monitor operations of project work environment to ensure that health and safety standards are met or exceeded.
- Assure all safety policies are followed on the project, including subcontractors and suppliers.
- Participate in screening and recommending hiring of subordinate field personnel. Evaluate all new hires to determine if adequate job performance exists.
- Work to develop subordinate field personnel for continuous improvement in their job skills and potential advancement within the company.
- Assist Project Managers in development and review of project estimates and wok plans.
- Assist in development and review of initial project schedule(s) and keep accurate and updated.
- Interpret details of project plan(s), specifications, schedules, and bid proposal(s).
- Understand project budgets and strive to stay within those parameters.
- Coordinate labor needs among multiple projects.
- Attend meetings and functions as necessary to fulfill duties of position.
- Maintain and develop good working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Coordinate materials and equipment deliver with vendors and suppliers.
- Coordinate equipment needs among multiple projects.
- Coordinate Field survey/engineering/GPS file needs with the Project Manager.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Foreman in the heavy highway construction industry.
- Familiarity with equipment, materials, and methods used in the construction industry, specifically heavy highway construction.
- Basic knowledge of computer and software such as MS Office.
- Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively, both verbally and written.
- Ability to keep organized records and to prepare work and time reports accurately.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within established timelines, including managing multiple tasks, crews, and projects.
- Ability to handle changes in project priority based on resource availability.
- Must be able to recognize, prevent, and/or resolve any issues before they progress.
- Must be knowledgeable of safety procedures and practices.
- Must be accustomed to working outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that may require climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, and handling of materials, equipment, and tools.
- Must be willing and able to travel and work out of town on various jobsites.
- Must have a valid driver license.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening.
