Capital Power is currently seeking an individual to join our dynamic Renewables team.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer in Renewables, you will be part of group providing engineering, design and technical guidance in a sound, competent, and technically professional manner across the fleet. Reporting to the Director, US Renewables, you will be responsible for the delivery of day-to-day engineering and technical support for the renewables portfolio.
You will contribute to our team by:
- Applying sound engineering principles to prepare technical solutions for complex and diverse problems related to wind and solar generation sites.
- Evaluating the severity of damage to critical electrical equipment and determining the priority of repairs.
- Completing the design and managing the execution of complex repair tasks.
- Supporting the scope development, execution, and commissioning of sustaining capital and major projects.
- Assisting in the integration of newly constructed or acquired sites.
- Collaborating, supporting and coordinating other disciplines to ensure successful task execution.
- Responding to real-time issues on sites to ensure the safe and timely return to service of affected assets.
- Developing technical recommendations regarding the disposition of assets nearing the end of their design life.
- Supporting major maintenance issues and troubleshooting efforts.
- Providing interpretation of codes, regulations, statutes and standards.
- Reviewing, understanding, applying, and developing internal operations, maintenance, and engineering guidelines, procedures and standards.
- Reviewing proposed changes and championing the management of change process.
- Participating in the peer review process to ensure the responsible practice of engineering at Capital Power, in compliance with the Professional Practice Management Plan.
- Responding to change with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives.
- Providing leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior staff including students and/or EITs.
- Constantly developing technical and management skill through formal and informal training opportunities.
What you will bring to the role:
Education:
- Completed Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience:
- 5 years of engineering experience in Renewable Power Generation or Heavy Industry.
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with renewable generation equipment and NERC regulations preferred.
- Project execution experience would be an asset.
- Plant/field experience preferred.
- Strong communications skills (both written and spoken).
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships with others.
- Strong analytical skills to solve complex technical problems and make timely decisions.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid office/work from home position based in our Phoenix location.
- Periodic travel to generation facilities for site work as required.
Additional Details:
The pay range for this position is $115,330 to $127,470. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior relevant experience.
This position is eligible for health care benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off, and annual bonus.

Salary : $115,330 - $127,470
