Who we’re looking for
The Director of Sponsorship is a senior leadership role responsible for driving top-line revenue growth, achieving sales targets and developing CapRadio’s sponsorship revenue potential. This role requires a dynamic, results-driven sales executive with a proven track record in media sponsorships, integrated marketing solutions and strategic revenue development. The Director of Sponsorship leads all aspects of sponsorship sales, including strategy, business development, team leadership and key client relationship management to maximize revenue performance.
We’re looking for candidates with a proven track record in high-level sales leadership, with experience driving multimillion-dollar sponsorship revenue in radio, digital or integrated media environments;
expertise in selling multi-platform advertising solutions, including audio, digital and experiential sponsorships; strong leadership, coaching and team development capabilities with a history of building high-performing sales teams; deep relationships with local businesses, corporate brands, advertising agencies and media buyers; and a mindset that aligns with CapRadio’s mission and brand values to match the quality and excellence that our community expects.

Position Responsibilities
- Own and execute the sponsorship sales strategy to meet and exceed revenue goals across CapRadio-owned platforms, including radio, digital and events.
- Lead a high-performing sales team through coaching, performance management and continuous professional development to achieve revenue targets through new business development, sponsor retention and strategic account growth.
- Identify and develop new revenue opportunities, leveraging industry trends, audience insights and innovative sponsorship solutions in collaboration with Marketing and Content teams.
- Establish and maintain a disciplined sales pipeline process, delivering accurate revenue forecasts and business insights.
- Elevate CapRadio’s brand visibility and influence among key decision-makers at corporations, agencies and nonprofit organizations across Sacramento, the Central Valley and the state.
- Drive monetization strategies for digital media, newsletters, podcasts, live events and emerging content platforms, ensuring CapRadio remains at the forefront of media sponsorship solutions.
- Leverage research, analytics and audience data to craft compelling sponsorship narratives that resonate with advertisers and maximize value.
- Implement sales tools, CRM systems and workflows to optimize team efficiency and revenue performance.
- Partner with Marketing, Audience Insights and Content teams to align sponsorship sales efforts with CapRadio’s broader strategic initiatives.
- Ensure all sponsorship activities align with FCC regulations and CapRadio’s brand values and editorial standards, reinforcing trust and credibility in the marketplace.
- Partner with CapRadio executives to activate board members and leverage the Development Committee to network and drive sales revenue growth.
Requirements
- Proven track record in high-level sales leadership, with experience driving multimillion-dollar sponsorship revenue in radio, digital or integrated media environments.
- Expertise in selling multi-platform advertising solutions, including audio, digital and experiential sponsorships.
- Strong leadership, coaching and team development capabilities with a history of building high-performing sales teams.
- Deep relationships with corporate brands, advertising agencies and media buyers.
- Exceptional negotiation, presentation and communication skills.
- Data-driven mindset with proficiency in CRM platforms and sales analytics. A deep understanding and demonstrated experience utilizing and presenting broadcast data is highly desirable.
- Prior experience or willingness to learn about the unique value proposition public media audiences offer to clients.
- Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.

This role is deemed essential and requires an on-site presence at least 90% of the time. You must be able to commute to our Sacramento, CA office each workday.
Salary
The annual base compensation for this role is $130,000, plus a competitive commission structure with bonus incentives. CapRadio also offers:
