The Pump Technician / Diesel Mechanic plays a critical role in inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel-powered pumps and fluid-handling equipment. This senior-level position requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude. Working closely with the Branch Manager, you'll ensure equipment is always job-site ready and customer expectations are exceeded.
What You'll Do
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and pump equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues using tools, testing equipment, and mobile diagnostics.
- Perform preventative maintenance and detailed repairs on pumps, engines, and components.
- Set up and test pump systems to ensure proper performance.
- Maintain accurate service records and reports.
- Follow company safety policies and proper PPE protocols at all times.
- Communicate with managers and team members to prioritize work orders and customer needs.
- Assist with equipment setup and support field teams as needed.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with company standards.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude with experience in diesel engines and pump systems.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a safety-first mindset.
- Self-motivated with the ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Physical capability to lift 50 lbs and work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to quality workmanship.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Technical degree or vocational certificate a plus.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL is a plus).
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Must own essential hand tools for daily service and repairs.
- Forklift certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Prior experience with pump repair, diesel mechanics, or related field work strongly preferred.
