Position Purpose: The staff nurse is responsible for coordinating the total nursing care to an assigned group of patients providing the professional leadership necessary to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. In accordance with the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and Capital Region Medical Center's policies and standards, the staff nurse assumes the role of leader, educator, preceptor, caregiver, and/or supervisor in the provision of nursing care.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Implements patient care according to planned interventions to attain the patient's optimal level of function and documents according to policy
- Reports to the CCL charge nurse and manager
STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS:
- Demonstrates competence as circulator, assisting physician during right and left cardiac cath, implants (pacemaker, ICD, etc.), IABP, pericardiocentesis, PTCA/STENT/IVUS, Thrombectomy, other percutaneous coronary and vascular interventions and angiograms, electrophysiology studies, ablation and cardioversions
- Consistently computes and documents CV data regarding thermodilution, pressure tracings, ventriculogram and cardiac output
- Demonstrates competence in operation of imaging and archival equipment
- Consistently makes appropriate decisions regarding titration of vasopressors, vasodilators, fluids in order to maximize patient's hemodynamic status
- Consistently interprets cardiac rhythms correctly and makes appropriate decisions regarding drug therapy, initiates antiarrhythmic therapy
- Performs Point of Care Testing (ACT, Co-oximetry) on the Hemochron and Avoximeter
- Scans and processes Holter monitor; interprets cardiac rhythm
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Chemical or hazardous material/waste handled or present include: chemical agents/drugs and radiation/fluoroscopy
- Equipment operated include: variety of pumps, beds, monitoring devices, general office equipment, radiation equipment and table, IVUS, and Angiojet
* Successful completion of ACLS course is required within 6 months (then every 2 years).
