Position Overview
Coordinates plant operations with Control Room ensuring safe and proper operations.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities (Essential Functions)

- Operates outside equipment and machinery relating to Coal mill and solid fuel delivery system, alkali bypass dust pugging operation, dry process kiln system, clinker cooler, kiln feed blend silos, roller mill, dust collectors, etc.
- Maintains oil and grease levels on compressors and cement pumps.
- Cleans feed hood and alkali bypass take off on dry process kiln daily.
- Reports any mechanical, operational or safety problems to Shift Foreman on duty and the Control Room.
- Maintains safety and equipment check lists.
- Cleans roller mill when needed.
- Cleans equipment and may assist mechanics in the maintenance and minor repair of equipment.
- Learns and understands all Company safety rules, obeying them and using appropriate safety equipment and checks with supervisor if there is a question as to safe procedure; keeps up to date on all changes to safety rules. Must demonstrate commitment to safety of all persons and property by abiding by all safety rules and regulations.
- Immediately reports all unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Learns all safety features of machinery or vehicles assigned to work on.
- Performs equipment check and maintains a safety and equipment checklist which is to be prepared prior to the daily use of such equipment.
- Conducts area equipment check and updates check sheet during shift.

Required Skills and Abilities
- Must have acquired full competency in executing all routinely established tasks requiring demonstrable knowledge of all equipment and machinery and an understanding of the secondary crushing, raw and finish systems, coke/coal system and their relationship to the cement making process.
- Must be able to perform all the duties of Systems, I, II, III and IV operators, as well as demonstrate ability to assist Control Room Operators.
- Ability to be certified by the ATF to use cardox tubes is required.
- Knowledge of hand tools required.
- Must possess mechanical aptitude and previous experience operating heavy equipment.
Education & Experience
- High school Diploma or GED preferred.
- 3 years’ experience in an cement producing plant or similar operation, working in the capacity of systems operation.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Systems Operator of lesser grade is required.
- Must have acquired full competency in executing all routinely established tasks requiring demonstrable knowledge of all equipment and machinery and an understanding of the secondary crushing, raw and finish systems, coke/coal system and their relationship to the cement making process.
- Must be able to perform all the duties of Systems, I, II, III and IV operators, as well as demonstrate ability to assist Control Room Operators.
Other Qualifications
- Knowledge of hand tools required.
- Must possess mechanical aptitude and previous experience operating heavy equipment.
- Must possess ability to communicate and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
- Ability to understand and follow supervisor’s instructions, safety rules and regulations, equipment operating instructions and danger notices.
- Must be able to exercise common sense in the operation and safety of all equipment, machinery and vehicles; to work under pressure to solve problems, meet deadlines in performing work in a timely fashion
