Job Overview
The Director of Medical Compliance will be responsible for ensuring the program operates in full compliance with all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and standards. This position will play a key role in maintaining high-quality individual care while overseeing regulatory adherence, risk management, and the continuous improvement of operational and clinical processes within the Agency. The Director will work closely with direct care staff, administrative teams, and external regulatory bodies to ensure compliance across all facets of the program.
Duties
- Conducts routine auditing of Agency medical policies and practices, in accordance with regulatory bodies, to ensure consistent, quality coordination of medical and behavioral care.
- Monitors medical appointments utilizing electronic health record and program calendars to support the scheduling and follow up of medical needs for individuals served. Ensures appointments scheduled have clear instructions to ensure all needs are met at each medical appointment. Additionally, assists with processing end-of-appointment paperwork to ensure communication is accurately passed along to direct care professionals and supervisory staff in accordance with medical directives.
- Daily monitoring of medical appointments, monitoring medication administration, ensuring compliance with prescribed diets, and meeting all treatment plans for the individuals served through process notes, electronic medical administration record, and T-logs.
- Conduct on-site audits to ensure adequate medication supply, accurate controlled dangerous substance counts, no stock piling of medication is occurring, expired medication is properly disposed of, and accurate prescribed diets are being followed. Conducts daily audits on medication administration.
- Completes monthly Medication Administration Record (MAR) turnover within the Tarrytown Pharmacy web portal for all individuals served monthly. Seeks support from supervisor as necessary to ensure task is completed timely each month.
- Completes assigned tasks such as researching medication administration monthly records/progress notes/T-logs, validating prescribed diets, and reviewing ISPs for anomalies and confirming compliance with the overall treatment plan for individuals served.
- Provide initial and ongoing training to staff on medical compliance requirements (ie medical appointments, MAR's, documentation standards, and ethical practices, etc.) in individual care.
- Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory bodies, ensuring timely and accurate incident reporting and responses to audits, inspections, and investigations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic behavioral healthcare environment.
