We are looking for a Pre-Registration-Insurance Verifier for our Metairie Location who is a talented individual possessing strong written and verbal communication skills, a solutions-oriented mindset, and the ability to retain customers by providing world-class customer service and a "think outside the box" mentality to work in our Revenue Cycle Management department.
The ideal candidate is a fast learner with a demonstrated ability to work at a fast pace via phone and computer; remains courteous with customers, patients, referring physician office personnel and employees. Someone who is dependable, mature, has a good work ethic, excellent attendance, maintains a professional attitude, is a team player as well as adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures.

Description:
1 .Verifies all HMO/PPO eligibility; demonstrates a knowledge of the requirements of each plan with which the clinics are contracted; ensures that authorization numbers or claim forms are obtained when necessary; demonstrates a good knowledge if general insurance procedures and explains the coverage to the patient ; verifies benefits and computes the amount payable by the patient in the order of importance: MR, CT, Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound .
Calls patients to obtain clinical information for MR and CT exams. Completes appropriate medical history forms for these exams. Explains exam, gives prep or special instructions and answers questions.
Manages all phases of the patient encounter; verifies patient's name, address, phone number, referring physician, diagnosis, employer name and insurance coverage; updates in computer.
4.0btains verification for guarantee of payments on all working compensation and legal cases; ensures that appropriate letters of credit are signed and forwarded to clinic.
5.Recognizes potential credit problems and refers them to Patient Financial Services.
6.Takes initiative in learning all job functions; and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
-Skills in answering telephones, compiling statistics, establishing filing systems, inputting data into computer programs, maintaining filing systems, maintaining logs, maintaining patient charts, researching information.
-Must be proficient with computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and be able to learn billing and scheduling software
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
EDUCATION:
-High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
-Managed care and/or healthcare industry experience preferred
General working hours: Monday - Friday 8 am-5 pm
