What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVAC Designer position at Capitol Mechanical?
HVAC DESIGNER/ENGINEER
Reports to: President
JOB PURPOSE: Design projects under contract, assist sales staff with design and scope on proposed projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform load calculations.
- Size, select and layout equipment, piping ductwork to create complete plans for install and submittal for state plan approval.
- Create CAD and Revit plans for projects.
- Interpret and apply all applicable codes to design.
- Attend design meetings to coordinate design and special requirements with other trades.
- Meet general contractors’ deadlines for design benchmarks.
- Answer field questions regarding design.
- Schedule and contact all sub-contractors.
- Submit and stamp designed plans to state or local municipality for projects you are responsible for as lead designer or engineer.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 5 years’ experience as a licensed HVAC designer or engineer. Understanding of state mechanical and building codes. Design capabilities for multiple HVAC systems including, hydronic, VAV, VRF
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: State of Wisconsin licensed HVAC designer or engineer
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate equally well with field and office personnel. Organize, schedule and manage multiple tasks and people. Meet deadlines.
